About the Service
LiveNote is a free, real-time captioning tool that converts speech to text, making it easy to review meetings, online classes, live streams, and personal notes directly in your browser.
Local caption mode runs models directly in your browser to minimize network transmission. High-accuracy cloud caption mode uses server APIs to get stable results, but sends audio chunks to external APIs.
Built for situations requiring immediate text confirmation, such as accessibility aid, lecture captioning, and meeting transcription. Generated captions are stored in your browser and can be downloaded as TXT files.
Quick Start Guide
Select your microphone or system sound input from the list.
Choose standard browser or cloud processing, and select the language to recognize.
Click the Start button, and text will appear on the screen in real time.

Is LiveNote really free?
Yes, the core features are free to use. High-accuracy cloud captions and AI summaries may be limited depending on server status and operation costs.
Is it suitable as an accessibility tool for the hearing impaired?
Yes, it helps improve information accessibility by visualising speech in lectures, meetings, and videos. Since AI captions can contain errors, please review them alongside the original audio for critical details.
How is the privacy of caption data protected?
Using Local mode keeps your audio data entirely inside your browser. When using Cloud mode, AI summaries, or Shared View, data may be sent to external APIs for processing.
Where are captions saved?
Generated captions are automatically stored in the History tab using your browser's localStorage. Clearing your browser data may delete them.
Can I caption audio from YouTube or Zoom? (Virtual Cable & Bluetooth/Hearing Aid Setup)
Yes, using a Virtual Audio Cable (VB-Cable) on PC allows you to transcribe computer audio. If you wear bluetooth headphones or hearing aids, follow these steps to hear the audio while generating captions.
- Set Default Playback: Click the speaker icon in Windows tray and select CABLE Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) as output. *(It is normal for audio to cut out temporarily.)*
- Open Control Panel Sound: Search and open Control Panel, go to Hardware and Sound ➡️ Sound.
- Recording Tab: Right-click CABLE Output in the Recording tab and click Properties.
- Listen to this device: Go to the Listen tab and check 'Listen to this device'.
- Route to Hearing Aid/Headphones: In 'Play through this device' dropdown, select your bluetooth hearing aid or headphones, then click Apply and OK.
- LiveNote App Settings: In LiveNote, select CABLE Output as Microphone (Input) and click Start. That's it!
When is the Shared View feature useful?
Useful when a speaker uses a phone microphone and the audience wants to view real-time captions on their own tablets or laptops.
What are the supported browsers?
We recommend latest Chrome or Edge. Local AI performance depends on your device's CPU/GPU.
My microphone is not recognized.
Check microphone permissions in your browser address bar, and ensure no other application is occupying the microphone.
